I do not fear you, Death,
nor do I welcome you,
although I have heard your cold whispers
in dark times.
I do not consider you as my friend,
nor are you my enemy,
although many loves of mine you
have embraced.
You are that silent companion,
life long,
constantly by my side,
caressing,
from time to time
my soul within.
I will not ignore you,
nor invite you in.
I will not push you aside,
nor hold you close to feel your breath.
I do not know what you want of me,
or to what place you have awaiting,
nor do I know
when you will pluck me
from that tree of Life.
This does not concern me.
I do know, however,
that before that final day comes,
and my last kiss is yours,
I will taste the sweet, bitter fruits
of Life.
I do not fear you, Death,
for
Life has my total attention.
LIFE WITHOUT FEAR...
